It surprises me in some of its conclusions, but I can also respect the change up, and as a happy end girl, hope that these revelations make for a HEA for Becca and Brett as they discover The Upside of Falling. If you like light-hearted stories that uplift rather than depress, this is just that. Just because you want something to go back to normal doesn’t make it so, and our story demonstrates this very well. I like that while we hope it does, not everything is “rosy” by stories’ end. Brett on the other hand doesn’t have such a cynical view on love stories… until he does. Becca clings to her romance novels, and believes this to be as close to happy as she’ll get. The characters of Becca and Brett are fun, and it’s interesting to read about their family dynamics in an otherwise upbeat and sweet little novel. BOOK REVIEW | ‘The Perfect Escape’ is a Fun Adventure of a YA Romance There’s something about the affect it has on the reader that makes this possible. In short, this is one of those books you cannot help but be happy while reading. It’s told from the POV of Becca and Brett. Review: This story was a cute, somewhat typical, YA romance novel. It’s got one of the most commonly used tropes ever, but to this day I haven’t tired of the faux romance/dating trope, and I don’t see it happening soon either. Title: The Upside of Falling Author: Alex Light Publication Date: FebruPublisher: HarperTeen Age Group: Young Adult. This is one of those stories you cannot help but like. There’s more beneath the cover than its whimsy, but it never becomes “too much” or feels as if the perception outweighs the actual.
